Overview

Most Shopify conversion rate optimization starts with the theme: layouts, navigation, checkout. But shoppers decide on the product page, and those pages are only as good as the content behind them. Missing alt text, default SEO titles and thin descriptions are easy to miss and slow to fix by hand.

Lumi is our own Shopify app, made by Configurate. We built it so any merchant can find and fix those gaps on their own, before they ever talk to us.

What it does

Lumi scans your Shopify catalog, finds the products with missing or weak content and writes drafts for you to review.

  • Product descriptions. Drafts that use the facts already in your product data.
  • Image alt text. For shoppers who use screen readers, and for image search.
  • SEO titles and SEO descriptions. Written to replace Shopify’s defaults.
  • Category and metafields. A Shopify product category and that category’s standard fields, like color or material.

Drafts follow your brand’s voice, in 17 languages on paid plans.

Nothing goes live until you approve it

The first question about any AI writing tool is whether it will make things up and publish them on your store. Lumi is built around that concern.

  • You review every draft. Edit it, regenerate it or reject it. Only what you approve is published.
  • Automation is drafts-first. On the Maintain plan, Lumi can draft content for new products automatically. Those drafts wait for your review unless you choose to publish automatically.
  • You can undo it. You can restore the previous value of a field Lumi changed, as long as nobody has edited that field since.
  • You keep a record. Paid plans export a list of every approved update.

How to start

  1. Install Lumi. The Free plan costs nothing.
  2. Run the free scan. Lumi checks your top 100 products and shows which fields are missing or weak.
  3. Review your first drafts. Start with 10 products and see how close the drafts are to what you’d write.
  4. Clear the rest when you’re ready. The one-time Cleanup plan handles a full backlog. The Maintain plan keeps new products from falling behind.

Why it matters for your store

Building Lumi meant shipping a production Shopify app: Shopify admin integration, catalog scanning, AI drafting with review controls, billing and accessibility scanning. That’s the same depth of Shopify work we bring to client projects.

Lumi fixes what’s in your catalog. It won’t fix a confusing collection page, a slow theme or a checkout that loses shoppers. That’s what our Shopify CRO audit covers, from the first screen to checkout. See how that work played out for Cangshan.
