Shopify AI Catalog Workflows & Custom Automation
Configurate builds Shopify catalog workflows that connect product data, AI drafting, merchant review, and publication. We assess whether Shopify Flow, an existing app, or custom development fits the workflow and its operating requirements.
For Shopify teams with repetitive catalog work, review requirements or integration needs that deserve a clear operating plan.
Our work
Lumi connects gap discovery, AI drafting, review and publishing for supported catalog content. Its optional automation has separate settings and plan limits. Custom service capabilities are scoped independently.
Problem and fit
Identify the event, source of truth, required output, reviewer and publication authority before selecting tools. Deterministic rules and AI-assisted decisions need different controls.
What you get
The scope specifies which fields may change, where the facts come from and how a merchant reviews or releases the result.
Identify products, variants, identifiers, field ownership, API access, consent or privacy constraints and conflicts with external systems.
Use deterministic automation for known rules. Use AI for suitable drafting tasks, with approved inputs, quality checks and explicit publication authority.
Evaluate representative and difficult items for factual errors, omissions and editing effort. Define retries, duplicate handling, partial failures, alerts and operator recovery.
Document app and model costs, infrastructure, review time, API limits, credentials and the owner of monitoring and maintenance.
An app installation, a Flow workflow and a custom integration are different scopes. Pricing, delivery, review requirements and maintenance are agreed for the actual work.
How it works
A small evaluation can expose data and operating problems before a full-catalog rollout.
Define triggers, inputs, required changes, reviewers and failure ownership.
Check Shopify Flow, native features and existing apps before proposing custom development.
Use permissioned representative products and a recorded rubric. Separate format checks from factual review.
Verify review states, publish permissions, partial failures, repeat events and conflict handling.
Document settings, costs, limitations, access and responsibilities. Agree how future API and workflow changes will be maintained.
Engagement
We agree the workflow and ownership before committing to an implementation.
Use supported triggers and actions where they meet the requirements without unnecessary custom software.
Build when external systems, data mapping, job state or a specialized review interface require it.
Lumi is a separate Shopify application. Check its current plans and automation settings; mandatory review requires the appropriate draft mode.

FAQ
No. Known rules often fit deterministic automation. AI is useful for some drafting and classification tasks, but uncertainty and review requirements still need a design.
Yes, we can scope approval as a requirement of a custom workflow. In Lumi, check the selected mode: optional Maintain automation can publish automatically unless save as drafts is selected.
We first check the available triggers, actions, plan limits and connected apps. Custom work is justified by requirements that the simpler options do not meet.
No. Catalog readiness, participation, page citations, brand mentions and product recommendations are different outcomes. Shopify already provides Catalog access for eligible products.
The proposal names the owner of credentials, operating checks, exception handling, costs and future maintenance. There is no implied unlimited support commitment.
